Real Property Valuation

Process

Schedule

Moore County maintains Valuation information, working with the various permitting departments to keep track of any improvements to a property. The tax value of a given property is based on its value as of January 1 of the Revaluation Year. Taxpayers are responsible for notifying the Tax Department when improvements are made as well.

Market Data, Real Estate Transactions, determine the actual Valuation. But as it gets further from the actual Revaluation Year, the tax value becomes LESS of an indicator of the value of a house.

Moore County historically does their Revaluations every 4 years. The most recent Revaluation was January 1, 2015, and the next is scheduled for January 1, 2019. If market conditions change drastically before then, it will be done sooner.
